NŌDO IS the result and a combination of experiences, knowledge of precious, natural yarns and creativity inspired by ancient, manual arts, which are being lost; the need to re-evaluate the value of “handmade”, making it innovative, contemporary, respecting traditional rhythms and handcrafted gestures
HANDS
The PROTOTYPE is the beginning. The firstprint, a large, impalpable cashmere shawl, entirely hand-printed, unique and inspired. The tradition Japanese art of Shibori in a more abstract and innovative key
SHIBORI
SHIBORI named after the term “shiboru”, which means to twist, tighten and press the material, is a peculiar Japanese art of dyeing fabrics. Thisare bound and manipulated, before being immersed in color dye.
There are an infinite number of ways to bind, stitch, fold, twist, or compress cloth for shibori, and each way results in very different patterns.
The technique used in shibori depends not only on the desired pattern, but the characteristics of the cloth being dyed.
Each method is utilized to achieve a certain result, in harmony with the type of cloth used.
Moreover, different techniques can be used in conjunction with one another to achieve even more elaborate results.
HORIZON
We believe in creating authentic, fine and ethical authentic fashion with minimal impact on the environment, for all independent spirits who have the audacity to transform themselves, every day.
PHILOSOPHY
NŌDO intends to bring back new light to ancient gestures, which belong to us and inevitably impose less frenetic rhythms of thought and dexterity.
NŌDO with its instinctive designs and the peculiarity of the techniques used, creates the passion for simplicity which is the most sophisticated form ever.
Flawed patterns and indefinable colors are a true blow of style.
